We’ve had a lot of fun the last couple of days. Friday we went with Tanya and the kids to the Sweet 16 state basketball finals to watch one of our local high schools compete against Grayson county…West Jessamine won but lost to Central in the semi-finals today. It was a lot of fun to be at Rupp Arena and to witness all the excitement. We got to see 1/2 of two Louisville schools …Central vs. Eastern (Sean, Branden, and Lacey’s old school)…compete before we had to head to Louisville. Central beat Eastern which was a big upset since Eastern was ranked #1. We’re cheering for Central to win it all tonight…a real Cinderella team!Â
We got to Louisville in time for me to register for the 10K and for George to get his packet before we were greeted with the 5 p.m. Friday afternoon traffic of a big city…how soon one forgets about the traffic of the city! We were meeting Gary and Dianne Smith for dinner and we were only a couple of minutes late. We enjoyed our time with them and we’re praying that they will both find employment soon. They are feeling the crunch but continue to trust in God and are patiently waiting for what’s coming their way next. We spent the evening and night with Melissa and her family…along with watching the UofL game. The kids are so sweet and growing up so fast.
This morning it was rather COLD…low 30’s to upper 20’s…when we began the 10k but it was bearable. We both completed the race still feeling good…George in 1 hour 10 minutes and I did it in 1 hour 37 minutes…big difference in jogging vs. walking. It was fun, only about 6,600 participated, and it was a beautiful morning for a long walk with the trees in bloom and the sun coming up. It’s also a rather easy 6.2 miles to walk with only a couple of inclines…Wilmore is really hilly so it makes the inclines really easy to walk. I never thought I’d walk that far but it really wasn’t bad at all. I may have another story tomorrow!
Guess that’s the news for now. Enjoy your time with other Christians tomorrow.
Blessings…….
