The race of all DERBY races…

WOW!!!  The horse that won the derby is an amazing animal with an even more amazing jockey.  If you didn’t get to see the race…even on the news…do so if you get the chance.  The odds were 50-1 and people were wondering why he was even racing.  Well, Mine That Bird showed all the doubters what a real champion is made of and made a lot of money for those that were betting on him.

Our time in Louisville at the Derby Party was a good time with LOTS of fabulous food and great fellowship.  The weather was rather iffy but it didn’t rain during the afternoon…rained most of the morning so the track was really sloppy…but the muddy track didn’t seem to bother the horses.  We enjoy being with friends so it was a good afternoon over all.  We left home around 1 p.m. and got back home around 9 p.m. so we weren’t gone long.

We will be going to Louisville again in the morning for a funeral…our good friend Carolyn Davis’s mother died Friday night.  Mrs. Zimmerer was 86 and had been in poor health for many years.  This will be another quick trip but it’s only about 75 miles and not a bad drive.

Today is another rainy, cool day and I have a flat of flowers that we need to plant so I’m hoping we’ll get some sunshine soon.  I also need to get my tomatoes planted so the squirrels will have something to eat all summer!  They sure enjoyed the ones I planted last year.

Our Life Group is meeting tonight  for our final meeting for this season.  We were suppose to have a picnic at one of the families small farm but it’s just too muddy.  We’re still meeting but it will now be somewhere else and indoors.  That’s OK with me…a lot less bugs and a very comfortable home.

My sister-in-law Patsy is asking for prayers for her father, Mr. Arnett, as he seems to be in his last days.  He’s quite elderly and in poor health, but good-byes are never easy…easier for Christians but still not easy.  Patsy is currently in Murray, KY to be with her mother while they attend to him but she can’t stay there forever as her home and job is in Abilene, TX.  This is her second trip home within a month so pray that some resolution will take place soon.

Have a great week !

Blessings………….
