Our time with Clark, Vanessa, Lacey, and Sean is rapidly coming to a close. We have had fun and it’s just good being with all of them. Lacey got her 250 Ninja motorcycle on Friday and she’s thrilled to have it. She only has her learners permit for now so someone has to be with her, or follow her, when she’s riding it. She’s doing well but motorcycles sure make me nervous…cars are just so much bigger. She’ll be getting her license this week, I think. She works hard and is buying this all by herself. Be safe Lacey!
Clark, George, and Sean got to fish the last two days and both times caught some. George has some photo’s of some of them and I feel sure they will be posted on his blog soon. They only had one mishap…Clark went to cast, caught the back of Sean’s head, and George had to remove the hook with his old “rusty” pliers. All is well for now…Sean survived fishing with his dad and his papa. Vanessa and I went shopping/looking on Friday as we both enjoy going to the antique stores for cheap treasures. We found stuff we liked but bought very few items…which is good since we neither one need a thing! Yesterday she worked on her sewing and I did some crocheting before we went on our 4 mile walk. It’s been beautiful here our entire visit so it was good being outside.
Last night we all went to the Nauvoo Hotel in Nauvoo, IL for dinner. That’s the area the Mormons established and they have their temple there…it’s beautiful and the landscaping is breath taking! The food at the hotel is great and we all got more than enough to eat. Nauvoo is about a 45 minute drive from Burlington so we got to enjoy some of the scenery, etc. between here and there. We went there during our last visit and did the tour of some of the buildings and learned some of the history of the mormons. If you’re ever in this area, it’s an interesting place to visit and worth your time.
I got news last night that a dear friend, Bonnie Shake, died of gallbladder/liver cancer yesterday. She was a remarkable lady and will be missed by her family and the entire community of Abilene, Texas. I have many fun memories of being with her and her family during the years we all lived in Abilene. Thank you, Bonnie, Roy, and all their children for blessing my life and being a true example of what it means to live a selfless life.
Guess it’s about time for me to get ready for worship. Have a blessed day, pray for the Shake family, and find good in all you encounter.
Blessings…..
