Our time in Louisville with the Gabehart grandchildren went by so quickly…’cause we were busy most of our time while there. Here’s a quick look at what we did…Friday afternoon Melissa and Byron finally were gone and we had the kids all to our self. Well…Madi had $10 and it was burning a hole in her pocket and she knew just exactly what she wanted to spend it on. She had been shopping earlier with her mom but didn’t have her money with her so she had to wait. Well, her Mimi is an easy target and she knew it! I had put together a lasagna, got it in the oven, and Tyler, Madi and I headed to Target. We got about 2 miles from home and the skies opened up with a gully washer.  We inched our way to Target and by the time we got there the rain was over…a very good thing. Madi went right to the cosmetics and found the box of six flavored lip balms in a tin shaped like a bottle of coke and was ready to check out. Tyler on the other had his $10 but had no clue as to what to buy but he seriously felt the need to buy something. He wasn’t so lucky as most things he wanted were over his $$$ amount so we headed home. The lasagna was done, salad was made, and we all enjoyed a good dinner. We played a game called Apples to Apples with all the kids and that was a lot of fun. Still time left for this day so we made another quick trip to the Jefferson Mall to just check out the shops and the unique clientele. The day was now over and we all headed to bed by 11 p.m…and that’s another good thing! Sleep came easy.
Saturday we had to be at the baseball pancake breakfast at 8 a.m….Kyle and Tyler had to serve since this was a fund raising event for their league. They were both a little apprehensive but LOVED doing it. In fact, Kyle wants to be a waiter when he’s old enough to go to work. We’ll have to wait and see if this holds true. They didn’t finish up this task until 9:30 so George, Ryan, Madi, and I headed over to the Tractor Supply store to just see what was there…only other store opened at this time of day.  I immediately found something Tyler could spend his $10 on…a new pair of sunglasses since he had lost his old ones. After his shift at the breakfast, he and I went back and he liked the sunglasses as well, so…bingo another successful shopping experience. Boy Mimi is a good shopper!!!! On our way back to the house we remembered that the church was having a big yard sale/car wash to raise funds for the trip some were going on to Belize. So we headed to the yard sale of all yard sales! Tyler immediately found a sling shot thingy that shot a ball right at his sister which made her yell…now he couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t let him get that…mean Mimi! Madi still had $1 left and she found 2 nice stuffed animals and purchased those…sweet Mimi! George got the van washed and I got a set of dishes for eight for $10…I plan to give them to someone in need at some point of time. The dishes look like they have never been used so I really did good! Kyle had to be at practice at noon so we headed back to the house to get his baseball stuff…along with Tyler having to be at practice at 1 p.m. George did this while I was at home with the other two doing laundry, etc. Madi and I tried to play a game of Life but we neither one really knew the rules so we just made them up as we went…she’s so much fun! We all cleaned up and headed to Southeast that afternoon and then to dinner at El Napelito’s for a good mexican dinner. Once back to the house, the kids played some more basketball, went to the neighbors to swin for about an hour, and we were all tired and thankful we had survived yet another day that was hotter than hot. Once again in bed by 11 p.m. Slept like a rock!
Sunday Melissa and Byron got home by noon, or shortly thereafter, and they had a great time. We had lunch in the making so it was perfect timing for them. Kyle again had practice at 3:30, Ryan had Act I practice at 3, and then Kyle had a game at 6 p.m. We finally had a opportunity to see Kyle play ball so we hung around for that. Unfortunately they didn’t win but I did enjoy seeing Kyle play. He hit once, but they threw him out at first, and struck out his next at bats. This wasn’t one of their better games but it was a perfect evening to be out and watch it.
We finally got back home last night around 10 p.m. and went to bed not long afterwards. It was a fun time and the kids are growing up far to fast.
This week we’re having all the Crockett kids while Tanya is taking a class for doing medical coding…have to be an RN to do this and it’s something she can do from home. The weather has cooled down so the kids played outside most of the day. At one point there was a disagreement about a kick ball game and I advised them to work it out. I told them if they couldn’t have fun playing I’d have to find chores for them to do since busy kids didn’t have time to disagree. Blake looked at me and ask if I had that rule when his mom was a kid…I assured him I did and enforced it. Amazing not another cross word for the rest of the day…wise Mimi!
Well it’s once again time to take my bath and head for bed. Please pray for Linda Lou, my sister-in-law, as she’s having surgery to remove a mass about the size of a golf ball from her abdomen in the morning (Tuesday). She’s having lots of back problems and this mass was found when they did a MRI and CT scan so I’m thankful it was found. Also, Melissa is having to deal with trying to work with four kids at home and her van in the shop that’s needing a new transmission…that’s NOT a good thing! Hang in there Melissa…I’m sure the Honda people will get this fixed this time! This will be a busy week and next week at camp will be even busier so pray for George and I.
Love to all and have a great week enjoying these cooler and less humid days. I’ll be back when I have something to say and the time to say it.
Blessings……..
