Summer has finally arrived…

As predicted, summer finally made it to Kentucky now that it’s August.  The last several days have been really hot, HUMID, and hazy.  We went the entire month of July and never had to use the AC but it’s sure being used now.  It’s in the 90’s today and a humidity of 60% + with a lot of bad storms going on north of here…we may get some here later tonight.  We’ll take the rain but I sure don’t like those storms!

School begins here in Wilmore on Wednesday and the kids are ready to tackle another school year…this isn’t said in so many words but it’s being implied.  Jerod will begin middle school and is excited, and nervous, about that.  He knows a lot of kids in his class so that will make the transition a lot easier.  The other three are at the elementary school…Meredith is in the 5th, Blake in the 3rd. and Grayson in the second.  The Louisville kids start back on Thursday and they are all registered, all school supplies are bought, and the kids are ready to be get started.  Ryan will be in high school…9th grade…, Kyle in middle school…7th grade…, and Tyler…third grade…,and Madi…second grade…are at the elementary.  Melissa has the opportunity to attend all the PTA…or whatever they are called now…meetings that will be available at the three different schools.  Oh the fond memories of that.  One year we had all five of our kids in five different schools thanks to the busing program.  It was just a step behind being a nightmare for all of us, but we all survived….no thanks to the public school system.  I may have some of the kids in the wrong grades but that’s my fault and not theirs.  Thankfully they are all excellent students and enjoy school.  The other grandkids…Sean, Chase, Chance, and Lacey will be in college.  Branden is setting out this semester, the last I heard, but hopes to be back for the spring semester and then graduate next summer.

I’m still plugging away on the sweater and should have it completed before too many more weeks…hoping it will be days but weeks is more like it.  It’s hard to think I’d want to wear something that warm when it’s this HOT, but it does turn cold after Thanksgiving.

We’re going to be taking a quick trip to Burlington next week to see Clark, Vanessa, and Lacey.  Clark and George want to go fishing and the Mississippi River is a  good place to go…or whatever place they can put the boat.  They enjoy the challenge and we never even consider having a fish fry as they usually just do the catch and release method.  We’ll be leaving here on Tuesday and be back home by Saturday…maybe even Friday depending how the fish are biting, I guess.  It will be good seeing them for a couple of days regardless of the fishing expectations.

Guess I’ll get back to my sweater…even though the book I’m reading is really calling out to me.  Have a great evening and I’ll be back soon.

Blessings……..
