Thanksgiving is coming soon…

We’ll be leaving in the morning for Alabama and we are really looking forward to seeing all the different ones that will be attending the Thanksgiving feast at Imogene’s.  Carter and Lori are the only ones from our family that will be there…all the other kids are doing their own thing with their own family.  As I said before, it will be quite a different time for us but that’s not bad in any way.  I don’t have to do the cooking, cleaning, or the menu planning…and that’s a good thing!

Melissa told me this morning that Tyler is still having a difficult time with his recovery from the tonsillectomy.  He’s still having a lot of pain in his ears and his throat, but he is able to eat for the most part.  Poor baby!  Tomorrow it will have been a week and he still has a way to go so let’s all keep praying that he will be pain free very soon…like NOW.

We got word the other day that Sean’s girlfriend from high school, Teresa, was injured very badly while riding her bike in Chicago where she lives.  She was in the bike lane and a van literally ran over her!  She has a damaged spleen, badly broken ankle that required surgery, teeth knocked out, lots of cuts and bruises…she’s lucky she survived.  Not only did the person run over her, they left the scene.  I would ask you pray for her and her recovery.  She works in Chicago but will be in Louisville for her recovery period staying with her parents.  The EMT told her if she hadn’t had her backpack on she would have been injured a lot worse and my not have survived.

I have had some good news from Clark and Melissa today…they were both tested for the Celiac disease and both came back negative.  Clark’s test said he was a “less that 3” and Melissa’s test came back ZERO…you should score 5 or less and when I was tested I scored a 10.  The others have not been tested, as far as I know, and I hope…if and when they do decide to be tested…they too will score less than 5.  This holiday season is going to give me a run for my “pity party” mind set since this is the best time of the year to eat all the good stuff containing gluten.  Oh well, such is life and it is what it is.

My parents were informed yesterday that a dear friend of there’s died suddenly and the Gooch family will definitely feel Dorthy Jean’s absence during the coming days and years.  May God comfort you and we rejoice with the Gooch family in knowing that Dorothy Jean is receiving her reward during the week we’re all to be thankful!  What a blessing.

Guess I’ll close for now and get a few more things done towards getting ready to leave in the morning.  May God bless each of you reading this blog.  May we always be thankful for all the blessings we have, and continue to receive, each day.  Not everything that’ we consider bad in our lives should be considered a curse, but another way of growing closer to the Lord.

Blessings………
