Is it time to start getting ready for Christmas?

Thanksgiving has come and gone and we had a very nice time with all the different family members.  Everyone is doing well and we all ate more than necessary.  We were blessed to have Clark and Vanessa come over on Saturday…they headed home this morning…which was an unexpected surprise.  Originally they were NOT coming this direction at all, but at the last minute all their plans changed and they came to Louisville on Thanksgiving day to be with their kids.  Sean is currently stationed in MO. but was coming to Louisville to check on his friend, Teresa, that was injured by the hit and run driver…she’s doing OK but the doctors said it would be a good 10 months before she would be back to normal.  Branden is still living, and working, in Louisville and, of course, Lacey always wants to be back in Louisville so they were all together for their Thanksgiving.  We know that Scott/Allison and Melissa/Byron/kids all enjoyed their Thanksgiving with their  in-law family.  We saw Carter/Lori and Tanya/Daniel/kids and know they all had a good Thanksgiving day.  The Crockett’s really enjoyed going to the Great Wolf Lodge in Cincinnati and said the buffet dinner they had was excellent!  Melissa/Byron/kids went to see Byron’s grandmother today (Sunday) to celebrate with her…she’s 97, I believe, and Melissa said she was doing very well.  It’s amazing for someone her age to be as spry as she is!  God has been good to her.

I hope to finish up my Christmas shopping this week and put up a few decorations around the house.  I think once I do that, I MIGHT just get into the Christmas spirit.  I’m mainly looking forward to getting back to Florida where it’s warm!  We’re still having rather mild days around here, but the nights are getting really cold.  It’s finally gotten below freezing here and finished off my outside plants.  They lasted longer than usual and the Knock-off roses are still blooming!

Since we got home from Alabama, I has seen some signs of an uninvited guest…better known as a mouse…in my pantry.  Well, today I decided I’d scrub every shelf, nook, and cranny in there.  Much to my dismay, when I removed a basket off one of the shelves, a mouse ran out and I screamed like…well, like a “GIRL”.  I even surprised myself.  We still haven’t found him/her but all traces of the nest being built is gone, the pantry is clean, and everything is in a zip lock bag to make it more of a challenge for the mouse to eat.  Let’s hope he’ll get “trapped” tonight and I won’t feel so leary about going into the pantry.  George kept reminding me that the mouse was more afraid than I was, but I have serious doubts about that!  Updates will follow on this!

Christmas is looking to be as confusing as Thanksgiving, but it, too, will work out.  Everyone is busy with their own families and we certainly understand that.  A big family has a lot of distractions and it’s always going to be hard to get everyone together.  Regardless, Christmas will be celebrated in some fashion by whoever is around and that will be OK.  We continue to be blessed with far more than we deserve so I should never complain about anything.

Have a good week and let’s all get into the Christmas spirit.  Love to each of you and may we all see Jesus in those around us each day. We may have to look hard and long, but never fear..Jesus is always there!

Blessings……..
