Our anniversary breakfast

We got up this morning to another beautiful day…although it’s holding true to form in that it’s hot, humid, and MUGGY!  We went for a 3 mile walk this morning around 7:30 a.m. and it was already 82 degrees and the humidity was 82%.  It was a good walk and you will definitely work up a sweat in no time…even those of us that don’t like to sweat are having a hard time keeping our clothes dry.

We came back and got cleaned up and headed back to the French Quarters to have breakfast at the world famous “Brennan’s”.  It is a fabulous place to eat and the staff is very accomodating.  I had their famous eggs benedict…my appetizer was a baked apple in real cream…who ever heard of an appetizer with breakfast but you do there and it was wonderful.  I had almost forgotten how good real cream tasted…YUMMY!!!  Then the eggs benedict that were excellent and now for my breakfast dessert…bananas foster with ice cream.  Everything was well worth the thousands of calories and fat grams consumed.  Then while waiting for our check, several of the waiters sang us a “Happy Anniversary” song and presented us with a little decorated bread…see George’s blog for pictures.  It was so cute and we were surprised they did that.  There was another couple there celebrating their 45th anniversary also.

We walked around the French Quarters sight seeing for a little while but it is so hot today with a heat index of 105…I had on a dress that was holding all the heat in and I thought I’d melt…so we’re back in our room…SWEATING!!!  We did come upon a youth group from Tuscaloosa, AL that was perforning on the street and they had been doing relief work this week and now were out just telling people about Jesus and singing songs about him.  They were quite good but had to be hot in their jeans and black t-shirts.  They didn’t seem to be bothered by the heat so I guess they survived.

This anniversary celebration has been a great one and I look forward to many more such occasions with George as we continue our journey.

Blessings…..
