We came to Florida to be warm but something has gone terrible wrong. It’s only 47 today and that’s COLD for Florida. I know it’s a whole lot colder back home…especially where Clark is in Burlington, IA…but, hey, WE NEED AND WANT SUNSHINE. It will be this way for this week and I’m sure hoping it will be better the next three weeks. I can’t work on my tan when there’s no sunshine! Regardless, we’re still happy to be here.
Melissa, Byron, and the kids were here yesterday morning for breakfast and that was fun. Ann’s diner was open and the food was ready when they drove up so they didn’t waste much time. They had a LONG day yesterday…15 hours in the car…as the traffic was extremely heavy…all the others that had spent the holidays down here were headed north, too. They spent the night around Chattanooga, TN and had gotten to Tanya’s about an hour ago (2:30 p.m.) to pick up Pal, their sweet dog. They have about 90 minutes left and then they’ll be home. Once you get as road weary as they are now, you begin to wonder if it was worth it? Of course, while here they said it was and they had had a good time. Now they all get back to reality tomorrow morning and it’s really cold in Louisville…low teens! Hope the fond memories of Florida will help keep them warm!
We went to the Central church this morning and we were like the lost sheep that had come home….to say we had gotten a warm welcome is to put it mildly. That congregation is in transition currently, so they have a lot of new faces…lost some due to the changes but not very many. They’re a good group of people that are truly wanting to serve the Lord and to be a light in their community. We always enjoy being with them each winter.
Tomorrow…Monday…we’re having George’s cousins ( David, and his wife Sophia, and Jerry Page) for dinner. Think I’ll have shrimp and black bean chili…it’a gluten free and a very good winter dinner. Hope they’ll like it! We’ll enjoy being with each of them and catching up on what’s been going on in their lives this last year. Also, tomorrow, Ron and Jean will get into town and we’re excited about catching up with them. They own a condo in this same complex we’re in so, we expect we’ll get to see them often. They’re fun to be around and Ron is just full of questions!
Getting ready to watch the Cowboys and sure hope they all decided to show up for the game. They’re still my favorite team, but the Colts are catching up. Football is my favorite sport and sadly it’s about to end for this season.
Have a good week and let’s ALL try and stay warm!
Blessings……
